Grizzly bear

Hi everyone, it has been a long time since my last post, I am going to try to keep up with posting once in a while and post things not only of my metal and art work but of things that are apart of my life,
below is a grizzly bear, I captured it on a trail camera. I was hiking earlier this summer and came across a large black bear in the same area. I thought it would be fun to set up a camera, I never expected to get such a great picture of such a magnificent specimen of a grizzly. I also got pictures of the black bear I will post later but my goodness, I was lucky. I hope you enjoy.

drought

Hope everyone is having a great Summer, It is so hot and dry here in the NW. I think even the tourist would love to see some rain. Thank goodness the evenings are cool. And there is always a mountain lake to go to.
I have to start posting again, not much art work is going on but I think I will rededicate myself in the fall.

Karin’s Plant stand

This is a Plant stand designed by Karin, An artist and good friend, my part in creating it was just to choose material, and put it together. As you can see, all the individual platforms swivel so you can place it in tight places and still get a lot of plants (7) on the one stand.

rosewood and steel mirror frame

This is a custom frame we made with some exotic rosewood. as you can see the wood was too beautiful to square and miter like a traditional frame so we made a metal frame to the contour of the wood, we then used steel blocks in the corners, the steel was ground to the contour of the wood and then flame colored.  as you can see I think the steel corners pulled the irregular wood together.

Wood Stove

Finally finished my wood stove and got it in the house. It is made from 1/4″ steel plate, the door is 1/2″, all moving parts were forged shaped and welded.  no nuts or bolts. It was a fun project, Heats the whole house, great to turn the thermostat offwood stove
